Intriguing Details Emerge from Collins Chepkulei on Cherus Centre Fake Police Statio

The man behind the now-infamous fake police station in Cherus Centre, Kesses sub-county, Collins Chepkulei, has come forward to explain his actions.Speaking on The Obinna Show, he revealed that the decision to establish the station was driven by the community’s urgent need for security services.

Chepkulei explained that the area he resides in is densely populated, has all-weather roads, but remains underdeveloped and highly insecure.

According to him, the idea wasn’t his alone—it was a collective suggestion from the community.

"The residents told me they had plans to open a police station. The nearest official station is 7 kilometers away and has only eight officers. That’s not enough for such a large population," he said.Contrary to widespread reports that the fake station had been operational for six months, Collins clarified that it had only been open for two days.

"The local chief was even involved in painting the station. The next day, I found myself with the OCS, chief, and assistant chief monitoring others as they painted," he said.

Chepkulei also revealed that shortly after, he began receiving complaints from the local authorities.

"The OCPD told me, ‘Now you’re bringing police officers here, where are they supposed to stay?’ I tried to convince them they could live at the nearby police post," he said.

He added that the rumours of the station running for six months started after his meeting with the OCPD.

"He was happy with the initiative at first. I don’t know why he changed his mind. I was really pissed off, so I just went back to my farm."

Despite the backlash, Chepkulei remains hopeful about the idea.

"In the future, we will privatize it. We’ll have private police stations—but not now," he concluded.
