Ndegz on Love, Heartbreak & Women: The Muse Behind His Music
Kenyan Rapper Ndegwa Kifudu Ndegwa, professionally known as Ndegz, has revealed some of the things and issues that inspire his music, his upcoming music projects, and advice about money to youths.
In a Quickfire session with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, Ndegz admitted that his music often draws inspiration from women, love, relationships, and heartbreaks.
The charismatic rapper said apart from Rap, he enjoys listening to other genres of music like R&B and even dancehall.
“I love listening to R&B and hip-hop. That's what I grew up on. That's what I love. I like Dancehall too. I draw my inspiration from Love, relationships, heartbreak, Women… women inspire my songs a lot,” he said.Ndegz revealed that he consumes a lot of music from the USA but said he also has a good taste for some Kenyan music from musicians like Charisma, Bensoul, Khaligraph Jones among others whom he’s looking up to.
“I'm listening to a lot of stuff. I'm listening to a lot of R&B from the States. I'm listening to Kenyan Guys, Like Charisma, Bensoul's new project, Khalligraph Jones.”
The rapper who also doubles up as a producer, says he has two people in mind he would like to work with, both as a producer and a rapper.
He revealed that as a producer, it would be his dream coming true if he can get a chance to work with American record producer and rapper Timbaland, while as a musician, he’s looking up to collab with Usher or any artist in the line of Usher.
Ndegz is a guy with big dreams, he wishes to perform at iconic venues overseas where other artistes from across Africa have made history.
“I would love to do an arena like, you know, O2 or an arena like the one in SA, The Dome, you know, just an arena filled with thousands of people. That would be, that would be live,” he expressed his wishes.
Ndegz, who revealed to have made his first million in his mid-twenties, hinted at an upcoming project with Nviiri the storyteller, though he didn’t mention the exact time.
On his advice to young Kenyans starving themselves to save money for big things, Ndegz said;
“I made my first million when I was in my mid-twenties. I would say my advice about money that I always stick to is that Money comes and goes, don't feel too bad when you spend it. Just make sure you make it back. Yeah, money comes and goes.”
